I think they are actually used but the colors might be slightly rendered differently when in-game so it gives the illusion of not being present. |

They either ripped off old GTA models and texture mapping layouts or this is a strange coincidence ... The textures alone look like GTA ones just ran through a filter and slight color changes. |

It's not exactly the same, though. The shell is actually darker in Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash than it is in Mario Golf: Super Rush(ed). |

The Purple texture I think is unused since Purple Yoshi does not appear in this game. As Mario Tennis Aces's models were "reused" in this game (mainly Donkey Kong and Yoshi), I think it is a leftover from that game. |
